Rich Nieciecki from VARIETY wrote about the band’s LA
show; “‘Oh Josephine’ and ‘Locust
Street,’ two exquisitely wrought ballads, featured Chris and brother Rich

Jonathan Perry
who reviewed their appearance in Boston for THE BOSTON GLOBE, wrote that

The new album, “Warpaint,” has also received critical acclaim.
David Fricke wrote in a recent ROLLING STONE feature on The Black Crowes, “(Warpaint) Eleven tracks of brawny Southern rock and psychedelic R&B ecstasy…” and Alan Light from ROLLING STONE reviewed, "...some of the best range and craft of the band's career."
Gary Graff wrote in BILLBOARD that “the group [is] fortified by sharp songwriting and lace-tight, live-sounding performances…the 11-song set establishes the group’s return as something to crow about.”
MOJO reviewed the album saying, “Warpaint’s essence is simple, blues-based rock’n’roll, echoing the Crowes’ finest albums.... It is the sound of a band with dirt under its fingernails.”
THE SUN wrote “it’s good to see a classic band donning their Warpaint once more”
